▰ ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Connected and Automated Vehicle Support Services (CAVSS)
Technical Assistance for Connected Vehicle Early Deployers
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s connected vehicle (CV) research program is a multimodal initiative to enable networked, wireless communications among vehicles, infrastructure, and personal communications devices. CVs offer opportunities to improve safety for surface transportation and reduce environmental impacts. Federal CV research has produced substantial findings and resources that support pilot deployments, including the CAV Support Services program. By providing information and support, CAV deployments have become more accessible and encourage adaptation by new users.
▰ AVAILABLE RESOURCES
CAV Support Services provide technical assistance and equipment loans during deployments to all users including researchers, educators, infrastructure owner-operators (IOOs), equipment manufacturers, and device vendors.
Technical Assistance
CAV Support Services offers a Help Desk that provides users with technical assistance during CAV testing and deployments.
Equipment Loans
The Equipment Loan Program provides a CAV user with the opportunity to become familiar with the types of equipment typically used in CV deployment.
To request more information regarding the Equipment Loan Program & Help Desk, deployers can email CAVSupportServices@dot.gov.
▰ WHO ARE WE
CAV Support Services program is run by the Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory (STOL) in cooperation with the Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO), as well as the resources available to all levels of CV users.
The STOL, located at the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) is currently working with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to provide support to all levels of CAV users. This project is funded through the ITSJPO Professional Capacity Building program.
